We had a great “happening” yesterday that I wanted to share with you. Phillip Walden and his family Mary and Catherine Benson set out on a golfing journey some thirty years ago to play a round of golf in every state of the union together. They told staff of stories like playing in Alaska at midnight on a nine hole course with wolves howling in the background on the courses ledge and hoping that they didn’t look too appetizing to them.
Their experience culminated at Bear Trap Dunes yesterday by finishing their 900th hole accomplishing their goal of playing in every state and completing the task in the First State of Delaware. When they were asked about why they chose Bear Trap Dunes as their finishing course, Dr. Walden told associates that he had played the course two years ago and this was the friendliest staff and group of people at any course he had played. He schedule the final round and accomplished the family’s goal on a spring like Sunday afternoon at Bear Trap Dunes on May 12, 2013 – Mother’s Day.
